Blue Medora changes tack with new SelectStar performance management for the data tier

This report is brought to you by 451 Research

Over the past few years, the importance of the data tier has been elevated, databases have been virtualized (one of the last applications to make that move) and ‘cloud native’ has been embraced. Best-of-breed performance management is now a requirement for the whole stack. However, the teams responsible for managing the data tier haven’t gotten any bigger. Until now, Blue Medora has built plug-ins intended to widen the aperture of existing tools so that they can become ‘the primary source of truth,’ enabling VMware customers (for instance) to use their VMware virtual monitoring consoles for everything else, as well. SELECTStar represents a bold step forward as Blue Medora moves toward own-branding a substantial data layer platform – a significant control point that will be of benefit to many of its current partners, but might also make some of them uneasy.
