NSS Labs performed rigorous testing of McAfee Endpoint Security v10.5 across a multitude of attack threat vectors targeting a very dynamic enterprise class endpoint attack surface. In addition, McAfee Endpoint Security v10.5 was evaluated for it's resistance against several evasion categories and false positive testing. This test was conducted free of charge and NSS did not receive any compensation in return for McAfee's participation. The perimeter continues to dissolve, and the definition of endpoint is evolving, according to results of the SANS 2016 Endpoint Security Survey, now in its third year. As we might expect, 90% or more consider desktops, servers, routers, firewalls and printers to be endpoints that need to be protected. After that, respondents include other less-typical devices in their definition of endpoints that warrant protection: 71% include building security (access/ surveillance), 59% include employee-owned mobile devices and 40% consider industrial control systems as endpoints that need to be protected. Some respondents also consider POS devices, smart cars, emulated endpoints in the cloud and wearables as endpoints needing protection, highlighting the diversity of thinking among respondents.

IBM QRadar and BigFix solutions empower IT security teams to view, prioritize and respond to endpoint intelligence in near real time. How can an organization stay ahead of these advanced security threats? Maintaining a high level of baseline security by consistently enforcing security policies and patch levels on endpoints and servers is definitely required and important. But when networks can have multiple vulnerabilities per IP address at scan time, the slow process of mitigating and patching these weaknesses can result in dangerous security gaps. Today’s IT personnel have to make difficult, risk-based decisions on where to focus their efforts—often without having a complete picture of the security environment. This is even more critical when the number of vulnerabilities across the organization is increasing while the organization has limited resources and skills to fix the vulnerabilities.

If you function like most IT organizations, you've spent the past few years relying on mobile device management (MDM), enterprise mobility management (EMM) and client management tools to get the most out of your enterprise endpoints while limiting the onset of threats you may encounter. In peeling back the onion, you'll find little difference between these conventional tools and strategies in comparison to those that Chief Information Officers (CIOs) and Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) have employed since the dawn of the modern computing era. Their use has simply become more: Time consuming, with IT trudging through mountains of endpoint data; Inefficient, with limited resources and limitless issues to sort through for opportunities and threats; and Costly, with point solution investments required to address gaps in OS support across available tools. Download this whitepaper to learn how to take advantage of the insights afforded by big data and analytics thereby usher i

Today's mobile landscape is very much a moving target. IT managers must keep track of all types of devices and platforms, hundreds if not thousands of applications and a threat landscape that changes by the minute. In this ever-changing environment, IT staff often find themselves drowning in mobile minutiae, overwhelmed by mountains of endpoint data but unable to extract meaning from it or make business decisions based on it. The tactical challenge of keeping infrastructure and business data secure while keeping workers productive each day takes precedence. And even then, IT managers can find themselves choosing between security and productivity as they decide how best to spend limited time and resources. This whitepaper will guide you how to get deep visibility into relevant endpoint data within the platform, granting actionable intelligence that can have a measurable impact on your organization.

Endpoints continue to advance… Employees come and go... And the security landscape is in constant flux. IT leadership must rise to the challenge of managing a disparate and growing number of endpoints, operating systems, and platforms. The only efficient method of managing and securing all endpoints, their users, apps, content, and data is to implement and deploy a unified endpoint management (UEM) solution that changes and adapts with new technology, more skilled users, and increasingly sophisticated attacks by hackers. Read onward to learn why UEM is necessary, how it addresses complex problems encountered in the modern enterprise, and best practices for a successful deployment.

In October 2016, IBM commissioned Forrester Consulting to evaluate the means by which enterprises are managing and securing various endpoint form factors today and how strategies will change over the next three years. In conducting an in-depth survey of 556 IT and security leaders in the US, the UK, Germany, India, and Australia, Forrester found that while enterprises have a decentralized approach to managing and securing smartphones, tablets, laptops, and IoT today, they will move to a more consolidated and cognitive approach by 2020. Endpoint data backup is the foundation of an effective enterprise data security strategy. With half of enterprise data living on the endpoints, the attack surface is wide and risk of data leakage, loss, theft and breach is great.

When evaluating a next-generation firewall (NGFW) to determine whether the solution can give you comprehensive protection for your entire enterprise, you need to look for seven must-have capabilities. The NGFW should: 1. Integrate security functions tightly to provide effective threat and advanced malware protection 2. Provide complete and unified management 3. Provide actionable indications of compromise to identify malicious activity across networks and endpoints 4. Offer comprehensive network visibility 5. Help reduce complexity and costs 6. Integrate and interface with third-party security solutions 7. Provide investment protection This white paper explains this checklist in depth and provides examples of the benefits a truly effective NGFW solution can deliver.
