How can IT put PCs in the hands of their users without draining staff time and resources? IDC has put forth a deployment optimization model to help IT organizations understand how to deploy systems in less time, with fewer resources, and with better results. The model provides plenty for IT professionals to think about, including the wisdom of leaving some or all of the tasks to deployment experts who deploy PCs all day, every day. Join this on demand webcast today to learn about IDC’s view of the PC market, where it is headed, and best practices associated with their deployment optimization model. Speakers: • Rob Brothers, IDC, Program Vice President, Software and Hardware Support and Deployment Services • Jason Christensen, Dell EMC, Product Manager Intel Inside®. Data is growing at amazing rates and will continue this rapid rate of growth. New techniques in data processing and analytics including AI, machine and deep learning allow specially designed applications to not only analyze data but learn from the analysis and make predictions. Computer systems consisting of multi-core CPUs or GPUs using parallel processing and extremely fast networks are required to process the data. However, legacy storage solutions are based on architectures that are decades old, un-scalable and not well suited for the massive concurrency required by machine learning. Legacy storage is becoming a bottleneck in processing big data and a new storage technology is needed to meet data analytics performance needs.

Deep learning opens up new worlds of possibility in artificial intelligence, enabled by advances in computational capacity, the explosion in data, and the advent of deep neural networks. But data is evolving quickly and legacy storage systems are not keeping up. Advanced AI applications require a modern all-fl ash storage infrastructure that is built specifically to work with high-powered analytics.

Interest in machine learning has exploded over the past decade. You see machine learning in computer science programs, industry conferences, and the Wall Street Journal almost daily. For all the talk about machine learning, many conflate what it can do with what they wish it could do. Fundamentally, machine learning is using algorithms to extract information from raw data and represent it in some type of model. We use this model to infer things about other data we have not yet modeled. Neural networks are one type of model for machine learning; they have been around

Everybody’s talking about big data. Huge promises have been made about its role in driving enterprises forward. But few organizations are realizing its true benefits. For those able to put data to good use, there’s much to be excited about. Data is transforming not only businesses, but entire industries, and the world as we know it. Today organizations are harnessing big data to do things like transform healthcare, provide eyesight for the visually impaired, and bringing us closer to autonomous cars

e-book which lays out the case for machine learning and artificial intelligence for mainframe operational analytics. The mainframe is now part of a highly complex connected ecosystem driving trillions of mobile and web transactions critical to the functioning of the application economy. The emergence of new workloads and apps on the mainframe means that the status quo isn’t enough when it comes to Mainframe management. IT professionals alone – whether mainframe skilled or not – simply can’t keep up with the onslaught of performance alerts, false alarms. Machine learning deliver mainframe intelligence a more proactive and automated approach to handle this challenge.

In this eBook, we’ll make the case for why you need to rethink DNS from several different and important perspectives. The first is to rethink your DNS choices. Choices around solutions, vendors and configurations that were made several years ago may no longer be optimal in today’s environment. The second is to rethink the importance of DNS for building digital resilience, including the need for a secondary DNS configuration. The third is to rethink the value of DNS as it has evolved to be so much more than simple domain name resolution. Modern DNS with intelligent response capabilities continues to open up new opportunities for traffic steering across hybrid resources.

Every day, torrents of data inundate IT organizations and overwhelm the business managers who must sift through it all to glean insights that help them grow revenues and optimize profits. Yet, after investing hundreds of millions of dollars into new enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer relationship management (CRM), master data management systems (MDM), business intelligence (BI) data warehousing systems or big data environments, many companies are still plagued with disconnected, “dysfunctional” data—a massive, expensive sprawl of disparate silos and unconnected, redundant systems that fail to deliver the desired single view of the business. To meet the business imperative for enterprise integration and stay competitive, companies must manage the increasing variety, volume and velocity of new data pouring into their systems from an ever-expanding number of sources. They need to bring all their corporate data together, deliver it to end users as quickly as possible to maximize

Oracle has just announced a new microprocessor, and the servers and engineered system that are powered by it. The SPARC M8 processor fits in the palm of your hand, but it contains the result of years of co-engineering of hardware and software together to run enterprise applications with unprecedented speed and security. The SPARC M8 chip contains 32 of today’s most powerful cores for running Oracle Database and Java applications. Benchmarking data shows that the performance of these cores reaches twice the performance of Intel’s x86 cores. This is the result of exhaustive work on designing smart execution units and threading architecture, and on balancing metrics such as core count, memory and IO bandwidth. It also required millions of hours in testing chip design and operating system software on real workloads for database and Java. Having faster cores means increasing application capability while keeping the core count and software investment under control. In other words, a boost

This whitepaper explores the new SPARC S7 server features and then compares this offering to a similar x86 offering. The key characteristics of the SPARC S7 to be highlighted are: Designed for scale-out and cloud infrastructures SPARC S7 processor with greater core performance than the latest Intel Xeon E5 processor Software in Silicon which offers hardware-based features such as data acceleration and security The SPARC S7 is then compared to a similar x86 solution from three different perspectives, namely performance, risk and cost. Performance matters as business markets are driving IT to provide an environment that: Continuously provides real-time results. Processes more complex workload stacks. Optimizes usage of per-core software licenses Risk matters today and into the foreseeable future, as challenges to secure systems and data are becoming more frequent and invasive from within and from outside. Oracle SPARC systems approach risk management from multiple perspectiv
