In the world of digital interactions, the margin between success and disengagement or abandonment is measured in milliseconds. With the exploding adoption of advanced smartphones and tablets, you need a mobile-first approach to engaging with customers and employees. And as your mobile initiatives are delivered at increasingly rapid rates, the quality and reliability of the mobile apps, mobile web and connected services that support them has become critically important. For the technology teams delivering customer and employee services in the mobile channel, it is important to understand that performance monitoring solutions which work for the desktop cannot be simply applied to mobile. Managing the mobile end user experience requires an understanding of the challenges posed by the complexities of the mobile environment. This paper will reveal the 4 pillars of mobile performance, plus offer strategies for accurately monitoring mobile end user experience so you can continuously improve.

This whitepaper takes the findings from the 2015 Trust Gap Survey and translates them into actionable recommendations for employers in the form of privacy-centric mobile device policies. This white paper also reviews the privacy enhancements that Apple, Google, and Microsoft have made to their operating systems. When used with an enterprise mobility management (EMM) platform, these enhancements enable a more powerful set of privacy protections than was available even two years ago.

Part of a strong foundation for cloud-first, mobile-first IT includes supporting BYOD. BYOD can improve end user satisfaction and enable employees to work anywhere from any device. To really get these benefits though, the end-user experience must provide seamless access to the applications end-users want and need. Accomplishing this starts with extending app provisioning to mobile devices, and automatically deprovisioning mobile access as part of the identity lifecycle. For the best user experience, you’ll want automatic configuration of native mobile applications with mobile SSO, security settings and app settings like usernames, URLs and tenant IDs.

Cloud-first, mobile-first organizations are seeing huge benefits from taking a more distributed approach to IT. Business units are given more freedom to evaluate and select SaaS applications that will enable efficiency and growth. Users are given more freedom to use the devices that make them the most productive. When this trend started, most IT organizations were able to implement some basic, manual processes to administer and govern IT in this best-of-breed distributed environment. However, as the number of touchpoints increases, IT needs to automate to keep pace. This paper goes into more detail on the top 5 reasons to automate identity lifecycle and identity administration and build a solid foundation for future cloud-first, mobile-first IT.

In order to meet the challenges presented by the use of mobile apps and cloud services in the enterprise, a new generation of identity protocols has been developed. OpenID Connect 1.0 uses the same building blocks as the modern application architectures and APIs it secures—REST and JSON. This allows it to profile and extend OAuth 2.0 to add an identity layer—creating a singular, cohesive framework that promises to secure APIs, mobile native applications and browser applications. This paper introduces OpenID Connect (Connect), detailing its features and its application in enterprise use cases.

The modern organization has recognized the need to embrace mobile devices in the workplace. Some have fully implemented a bring-your-own-device (BYOD) program, while some have adopted a hybrid model of corporateowned and personally-enabled (COPE) devices. Many companies then choose to deploy an Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) or Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution to enable some control of the mobile devices that access corporate data. For companies at this stage of mobility, security is the next critical layer. As Gartner states, “It is becoming increasingly important that security leaders look at the anti-malware, mobile threat defense solutions market, the products available and how they should be used."

This report examines enterprise security threats for iOS and Android. While Android has higher consumer market share, iOS commands more market share in the enterprise, accounting for 72% of enterprise mobile activations in Q1 2015 compared to Android’s 26% activation share1 . The perception that iOS is more secure has helped drive its enterprise adoption, but this perception comes largely from security trends observed in the consumer space. Android, with a more open mobile platform and 81% global market share2 , predictably invites more broad-based attacks than iOS. When it comes to iOS and Android in the enterprise, however, both need threat protection because at a fundamental level both platforms are subject to similar vulnerabilities and attack methods. iOS attacks may be relatively uncommon today, but they have happened and can occur. Moreover, enterprises increasingly rely on iOS app-distribution methods that forgo Apple’s app-review and they face the risk that attackers will cont

The adoption of mobile in the enterprise space is accelerating. Users of mobile devices choose what applications they want to use, but it is up to the enterprise to predict the data that they will be accessing. With that change, comes a new spectrum of risk that CISOs must consider.

How to think about the risk to data from the mobile ecosystem Mobile devices, even those that are corporate owned, are personal. Your CEO uses the same smartphone to send confidential emails, snap family photos, inspect customer records, get directions to meetings, and scrutinize financial reports. Every employee in your organization does the same thing. Your organization's critical data is constantly being accessed by mobile devices, and once it leaves the network you have no visibility into where it goes, and little or no ability to enforce your security policy to protect it. Your organization’s sensitive data has made the mobile ecosystem the new frontier for a wide spectrum of risk that every CISO must now understand. Take a deep dive into all twelve elements of the Mobile Risk Matrix in the interactive table below.

“We don’t have a BYOD programme.” This statement, referencing mobile device usage in the workplace, is a refrain often heard in European organisations that are tasked with securing the privacy of highly confidential data and personally identifiable information, and managing employee authorisation and access to that data. However, businesses often believe that they aren’t actually subject to cyber-threats from mobile devices because, simply, they don’t currently allow personal mobile devices to access their networks. Ultimately, this posture puts data at risk because every company has a BYOD policy whether they like it or not.

Although many of the same elements of risk that affect PCs also apply to mobile endpoints, simply extending current PC security controls to your mobile feet is ineffective. Enterprise risk management needs to evolve to address mobile risks, and security professionals must architect mobile specifc security. To encourage this evolution, Lookout developed the Mobile Risk Matrix. Its purpose is to help security organizations understand the spectrum of risk on mobile devices and to provide data that demonstrates the prevalence of mobile risk.
