As businesses plunge into the digital future, no asset will have a greater impact on success than data. The ability to collect, harness, analyze, protect, and manage data will determine which businesses disrupt their industries, and which are disrupted; which businesses thrive, and which disappear. But traditional storage solutions are not designed to optimally handle such a critical business asset. Instead, businesses need to adopt an all-flash data center. In their new role as strategic business enablers, IT leaders have the responsibility to ensure that their businesses are protected, by investing in flexible, future-proof flash storage solutions. The right flash solution can deliver on critical business needs for agility, rapid growth, speed-to-market, data protection, application performance, and cost-effectiveness—while minimizing the maintenance and administration burden.

Technology is quickly moving to the forefront as organizations undertake digital and information technology (IT) transformation projects that enable strategic differentiation in a world where users are leveraging applications and data in new ways. The reality is, most organizations were not born digital but instead have legacy business processes, applications, and infrastructure that require modernization and automation. As a result, businesses must embark on IT transformation to modernize and automate their legacy infrastructure and prime themselves to achieve their digital business goals. IDC interviewed organizations of various sizes to understand the impact of moving significant parts of their storage environments to Dell EMC Flash Storage, powered by Intel® Xeon® processors. There’s no question about it: purpose-built all-flash storage is an exceptional catalyst for improving data center operations and supporting the transition to the cloud operating model. AFAs’ highly strategic role in both IT and business underscores the need to move storage purchase discussions and decisions beyond the storage team. IT leaders who want to see their organizations reap AFAs’ benefits—performance improvement, productivity gains, and cost savings, among others—should actively define their AFA strategies and oversee storage-related decision making, thus treating storage like the newly strategic asset it has become. The role of IT is fundamentally changing from a cost-efficient enablement technology to a more strategic element of the enterprise. For companies born before the digital era, IT is a key player on their path to digital transformation; for more recent businesses designed with technology at their core, IT represents a foundational pillar on top of which everything else is built. With this shifting role, IT’s decades-long emphasis on TCO is being eclipsed by a new-found focus on security and automation. Whether it’s the continuous risks posed by a dynamic threat landscape, the threat of digital disruption, or an inability to keep pace with the latest trends, virtually every enterprise needs to be more agile. And, with the continued evolution of compute, storage, and applications, networks have been exposed as a bottleneck to change.

By: Microsoft Office 365     Published Date: Sep 26, 2017
According to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Office 365 is Microsoft’s most strategic API. But to realize the potential of this business collaboration platform, Microsoft and its partners have to convince business and IT leaders that it offers levels of security, privacy, and compliance that are equal to or higher than those of their existing on-premise solutions. Even though a high percentage of enterprises are adopting cloud storage and compute within their businesses, the adoption of cloud-based content and collaboration products is by no means universal. Concerns relating to governance, risk, and compliance with regard to cloud services are understandable, but it is not unusual to find them overstated.

Research giant Forrester estimates that on average, data repositories for large applications grow by fifty percent annually. However, up to half of all that data can be duplicate or otherwise unnecessary. With no end in sight for the increase of raw data (both structured and unstructured), organizations must be ever more strategic about where and how to store enterprise information. Meanwhile, a tightening economy is putting pressure on costs, just as compliance mandates call for greater visibility into processes and data. What to do? Register for this Web Seminar to learn the four pillars of strategic storage, and how they can be used to simultaneously reduce costs, while improving speed, accuracy and accountability. The four pillars will be discussed in detail, with real-world examples of each: deep compression, database archiving,de-duplication thin provisioning.
