While the shift from disk to digital offers tremendous potential opportunities, it also presents a host of new challenges for gaming companies. As the online channel grows increasingly complex and the pace of innovation accelerates, many companies struggle to keep up. Not only are there websites and storefronts to manage, but also real-time gaming servers, large software downloads, and live-streamed competitions and events. Games are transforming from fixed, boxed products to dynamic, ongoing services – with frequently updated content, in-game micro-transactions, virtual goods and social interactions. Mobile adds another dimension to the trend, as consumers increasingly look to play on smart phones and tablets – or on multiple screens across devices. To successfully navigate this complex and changing landscape, gaming companies need an agile, high- performance infrastructure that allows them to turn the Internet into a reliable and effective online distribution channel. This requires f

Free utility finds the fragmentation that's crippling your network! New Disk Performance Analyzer for Networks 2.0 takes the guesswork out of tracking networked system performance. This revolutionary utility scans networked systems' performance from one single access point. It equips administrators with an arsenal of performance data, so they can zero in on systems' fragmentation and slows. This second edition comes with a series of improvements which afford users more control and flexibility. Systems can be selected from the Active Directory or IP Address. And this cutting-edge tool supports custom grouping. So, repeated scans are easy to set up and run. Performance reports can also be scheduled for off-peak hours. Results will be automatically sent to your e-mail address. Performance reports are now exported to a MicrosoftT SQL database for easy sorting and querying. Don't let low-functioning systems go unnoticed. Get Disk Performance Analyzer for Networks 2.0 free now!

Looking for the right Flash Array for you? Tired of all data being treated the same but want to save time and budget? Flash storage is helping to address the latency inherent with disk drives, enabling you to virtualize more, and reduce application response times. It's an inescapable fact that the $/GB of flash is much higher than disk drives. So why do the majority of storage vendors indiscriminately accelerate all data, regardless of its value to your business? All-flash arrays waste money by storing non-critical data in flash, and hybrid arrays can't control whether mission-critical or non-critical data accesses flash, leading to unpredictable performance. So what do you do to find a solution that addresses both of these issues? Download now and see NexGen's approach to value-driven data management. Make it simple to control what data is stored in flash and affordably tailor application performance to match your organizations priorities now!

Many IT Managers will be familiar with the ‘disk or die’ ultimatums that a disgruntled system can issue. If the system demands feeding and threatens to shut down if it doesn’t get more disk to chew, it’s time to address the issue of disk once and for all.  The expense of using disk to accommodate problems in the hope of buying extra investigation time is a quick fix that few organizations can sustain.

You are being buried by data. Multimedia including videos, audio and photos. Unstructured data in presentations, documents and social media feeds. Even the voicemails and databases that used to be the primary residents of your storage system are growing beyond your ability to manage them effectively. How can you keep it all under control without buying an endless stream of disk and storage devices? Experts from EMC and other leading storage manufacturers discuss the very latest trends in storage solutions and how an effective application of storage strategy can help tame the information beast and keep performance and availability issues at bay. Attendees will learn: - What are the hidden drivers in storage growth - How businesses of all sizes can benefit from a tiered storage strategy - Why virtualization is penetrating every level of IT - What role SSD and flash will play in every storage environment - What to do now to improve storage utilization and save costs

Innovations in data storage technology come with surprising frequency as competitors constantly leapfrog each other. That’s both good and bad. Good because they promise to solve pressing performance, reliability and cost problems. Bad because they often render perfectly good equipment prematurely obsolete.

During the course of research efforts in the all-flash array (AFA) space, IDC is still encountering IT executives, particularly CIOs and CFOs, who have an outdated perspective on relevant cost metrics for comparing all-flash solutions with legacy hard disk drive (HDD)–based systems. In IDC's view, flash is an absolute requirement for performance reasons in any 3rd Platform computing environment. While most understand the need for flash performance, there is still a subset that does not view the broader use of flash in the enterprise as cost effective

In today's environment of bigger disks storing not only larger files but more files than ever before, the effects of fragmentation worsen markedly with each day's use. To keep up with same-day performance degradation, disks must be defragmented in real-time.

The size of today’s hard drives boggles the mind. Coupled with this surge in disk capacity is an explosion in file sizes. And multi-MB PowerPoints, MP3s and PDFs litter the hard drive. The problem is that drive I/O speed has not kept up the pace. As a result, it has developed into a serious bottleneck in system performance.

While there is little dispute among IT professionals regarding the impact of disk fragmentation on system performance, no independent guidelines exist to recommend the frequency of defragmentation across an infrastructure. This white paper will outline the results of testing, draw conclusions, and make recommendations regarding managing fragmentation across your infrastructure.

Virtualization does have its dangers, as it incurs greater stress on physical resources. While under utilization of CPU may be a driving factor to virtualize servers, other hardware resources may become overtaxed. Given that a host system has limited ability (depends on application) to page memory used by the guest systems, the most recognized bottleneck to address is physical memory (RAM). Options to programmatically alleviate memory bottlenecks incur performance issues when the disk is re-introduced. Another major component and perhaps less acknowledged is the disk subsystem. In many cases, depending the purpose and application of the guest/virtual systems, the disk bottleneck will be the most significant barrier to performance. This White Paper provides information on how Flash is now rapidly and violently disrupting the disk status quo, and not just, or even mainly, because it is fast. Yes, the early integration of SSDs into a storage strategy was all about accelerating specific workloads, followed by getting a better overall balance of price/performance in external storage arrays.

The tipping point has arrived. Large enterprises are planning their next-generation datacenters around flash-based storage, and for good reason. Flash arrays provide read and write performance that is orders of magnitude faster than spinning media at a total cost of ownership that is on par with disk and will soon be lower. The benefits not only include improved application performance, but more consistent performance, lower latency, reduced storage footprint, streamlined storage administration, and lower operating costs. These advantages are too beneficial to your business to ignore. That’s why flash is becoming the standard for new storage investments.
