This white paper considers the pressures that enterprises face as the volume, variety, and velocity of relevant data mount and the time to insight seems unacceptably long. Most IT environments seeking to leverage statistical data in a useful way for analysis that can power decision making must glean that data from many sources, put it together in a relational database that requires special configuration and tuning, and only then make it available for data scientists to build models that are useful for business analysts. The complexity of all this is further compounded by the need to collect and analyze data that may reside in a classic datacenter on the premises as well as in private and public cloud systems. This need demands that the configuration support a hybrid cloud environment. After describing these issues, we consider the usefulness of a purpose-built database system that can accelerate access to and management of relevant data and is designed to deliver high performance for t

AOS delivers powerful, intent-driven automation of network services in vendor-agnostic environments by delivering it as an easily consumable service in response to consumer-specified intent. Network devices serve packets, AOS services serve application workloads. According to numerous studies, 70-80% of outages are due to configuration change applied to a living system, and not due to initial deployment. Initial, one-time deployment can be seen as sort of a “hello world” application; the real complexities arise as the system evolves. With AOS, configuration, telemetry, and expectations are derived from the single source of truth - the intent - in an idempotent fashion, and as such there is no implementation difference between initial deployment or change management.

"Malicious cryptomining has consistently been one of the top threats across all internet activity in 2018. Cryptominers tap into an organization’s computing power to create cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Monero — and generate profit for themselves. If you’re not protected, it can cost you in all kinds of ways. It can lead to degraded system performance and regulatory risks, and leaves an attacker with an open door to further exploit your network. In this eBook you’ll learn about who these criminals are targeting and how you can protect your network from a significant threat. "

"Malicious cryptomining lets cybercriminals profit at your organization’s expense. No industry is safe from malicious cryptomining - a browser or software-based threat that enables attackers to secretly use an organization's computing power to mine digital currency. This fast-growing threat can lead to degraded system performance, soaring electricity usage, regulatory problems, and vulnerability to future attacks. View our infographic to find out who they’re targeting and how to protect your network. "

AA Ireland specializes in home, motor, and travel insurance and provides emergency rescue for people in their homes and on the road, attending to over 140,000 car break downs every year, 80% of which are fixed on-the-spot. “In each of the last five years, the industry lost a quarter billion in motor insurance," says Colm Carey, chief analytics officer. "So, there's a huge push for new data, models, ways to segment and pick profitable customer types—and get a lot more sophisticated. Our goal is to optimize pricing, understand the types of customers we're bringing, and the types we're trying to attract. We would like to tie that across the business. Marketing will run a campaign, trying to attract a lot of customers, but maybe they're not the right type. "We wanted to step away from industry standard software and go with something that was powerful and future-proof. In 2016, we had an opportunity to analyze all software. The IoT is transforming the energy industry by eliminating tradeoffs between operation, SCADA systems, maintenance and new services for assets deployed in industrial and power facilities, buildings and across the grid. When it comes to building the best IoT system for your business application, it’s vital to keep your use case and business requirements at the forefront of your technical design strategy. In the energy industry, accessing and collecting data at the edge from disparate, heterogenous, multi-site, fixed topologies and transferring that data efficiently to the cloud to perform analytics and action business decisions is still the greatest challenge. Mission-critical data collected from the edge is integral to energy facility operations and cannot be excluded or corrupted.

Because electricity is a key commodity for business it represents significant financial risk. Yet many power management systems remain isolated and separate from the rest of the business enterprise. The result is poor access to incomplete information, with only limited knowledge of risk exposure. An integrated, comprehensive power management system that includes metering, software, and power quality mitigation equipment offers the most holistic, systems-based approach to managing this risk exposure.

New digital technology now makes it feasible to integrate process control and SIF within a common automation infrastructure. While this can provide productivity and asset management benefits, if not done correctly, it can also compromise the safety and security of an industrial operation. Cybersecurity and sabotage vulnerability further accentuate the need for securing the safety instrumented system (SIS). Certainly, a common platform approach using similar hardware and software dedicated for control and safety functions, respectively, can provide the potential for cost savings. However, it is widely acknowledged that utilizing separate, independent, and diverse hardware/software for safety and control is the optimal way to protect against potentially catastrophic common cause and systematic design and application errors. Different vendors offer varied degrees of integration and solutions. The question is: how to provide an integrated control and safety solution with advanced functionality and productivity without compromising safety and security? And, where do users draw the line? A third-party (e.g., TÜV) certification of the hardware/software systems to IEC 61508 specifications carries significant advantages, but should this be the only criterion? How does a third-party certificate extend to the plant’s overall assignment of risk reduction credits for all independent protection layers (IPL)? Control system embedded safety logic solvers may actually increase the SIL requirements of the SIF if no credit is allowed for the distributed control system (DCS) as an IPL. Digital transformation (DX) continues to headline business initiatives as companies look to remain competitive in the rapidly changing IT landscape. Organizations are increasingly investing in and implementing next-generation applications and architectures such as software-defined IT and hybrid IT to drive higher levels of efficiency and agility. These modern technologies and architectures, however, also require organizations to evolve their underlying infrastructure to support new capabilities and demands. Recent strength in the server market, which continues to operate in a marketwide refresh cycle, illustrates the growing demand for new infrastructure. 1Q18 marked the server market's fifth consecutive quarter of both shipment and revenue growth and represented a fourth consecutive quarter of year-on-year ASP growth, as customers continue to replace aging server infrastructure with more powerful and efficient systems that leverage the latest platform developments from processor supp
