Independent technology research firm Forrester evaluated web application firewall (WAF) vendors and published the results in The Forrester Wave™: Web Application Firewalls, Q2 2018. Akamai Technologies emerged as one of the leaders after a comprehensive evaluation on 33 criteria. The report states that security pros require a WAF that will automatically protect web applications, stay ahead of zero-day attacks and protect new application formats including APIs and serverless architectures. The report also reveals detailed findings for the 10 most significant WAF vendors. Akamai’s Kona Site Defender was the top scorer in the zero-day attacks criterion and one of the select vendors rated a Leader, the highest-ranking level in the report.

LinuxONE from IBM is an example of a secure data-serving infrastructure platform that is designed to meet the requirements of current-gen as well as next-gen apps. IBM LinuxONE is ideal for firms that want the following: ? Extreme security: Firms that put data privacy and regulatory concerns at the top of their requirements list will find that LinuxONE comes built in with best-in-class security features such as EAL5+ isolation, crypto key protection, and a Secure Service Container framework. ? Uncompromised data-serving capabilities: LinuxONE is designed for structured and unstructured data consolidation and optimized for running modern relational and nonrelational databases. Firms can gain deep and timely insights from a "single source of truth." ? This 10-point checklist outlines best practices for designing a security architecture that protects cloud data at the endpoint. Enterprise computing architectures have changed fundamentally in the last ten years, as employees consume an ever-growing collection of business cloud services through mobile apps. The traditional security approach of network perimeter and locked-down endpoints is not suitable for this app-to-cloud model of modern work.

As organizations are moving to AWS to gain the operational efficiencies of the cloud, they’re realizing the importance of a well-architected framework. This framework, which consists of twelve pillars, is well-intended, secure, and compliant, but is not exactly easy to achieve. Our clients frequently tell us that two pillars in particular-- Security and Cost Optimization--are the most difficult to get right. This is partially because while advanced tooling is required to manage cloud complexities and compliance, selecting, deploying, and operating these tools is costly and burdensome. Without optimizing your environment for these two pillars, you are preventing your organization from scaling up. This has resulted in many businesses that are restricted to a minimal use of AWS, negating any benefit of having adopted the cloud in the first place. AHEAD uses the AWS Well-Architected Framework, which will walk you through missteps and how to get it right.

In an era of "lean IT," the centralized management capabilities of cloud-managed Wi-Fi make it an attractive option to manage and maintain wireless LANs (WLANs) across multiple locations. The decision to move WLAN management to the cloud requires one key assurance: end-to-end security from user devices to the cloud. This means that user data must be protected over the WAN and in the data center. These security measures should not require on-staff WLAN security expertise to manage. And security measures should be largely transparent to users. This paper provides an overview of the security architecture of Ruckus Cloud Wi-Fi, as well as best practices for specific security scenarios.

Your website is your most important digital asset and so protecting it is as important as ensuring positive cash flow, paying staff salaries and keeping the lights on in the head office. Despite the threats and the importance of website security, IT department organization, goals and technology – their ‘website security architecture’ – is often unfit for the purpose. With correct planning and strong execution, CIOs and CISOs can create a problem-solving, self-aware, agile organization that is better protected against fast-changing threats. This white paper explores the challenges they face and suggests a roadmap for change.

OpenVPN is a popular and respected solution for enabling remote access to AWS VPCs for IT personnel, cloud developers, and a wide variety of end-user roles. While OpenVPN may be all that is needed to enable cloud access for a few users, it alone cannot meet the needs of growing organizations – particularly those that have security or compliance requirements. Similarly, Bastion hosts or jump hosts are often used when AWS is primarily focused on developers, but these tools likewise have scaling and security limitations. As part of our fact-filled AWS Bootcamp series, Aviatrix CTO Sherry Wei and Neel Kamal, head of field operations at Aviatrix, review key requirements and compare the remote user VPN options available for managing and securing access to AWS VPC resources. They also demonstrate features that ensure your remote access tools and methodology are “enterprise cloud-ready.” Who Should Watch? Anyone responsible for connectivity of cloud resources, including cloud architects, cloud

To move your business from its current state to the connected enterprise, you have to define a common API to your database and other systems, while providing the infrastructure to support the new model. The new systems must incorporate the security safeguards while ensuring the infrastructure can support the new growing, but variable, load. With the rapid adoption of mobile and web-based services across the industry, the REST architecture has emerged as the de facto standard for API integration across systems. This white paper addresses the concepts of REST, creating REST APIs for your databases and integrating with other systems: • What is REST? • Why use REST for database access? • Building REST infrastructure for database access • The REST enabled database • Integrating REST with other services • Criteria for selecting REST services platform

The role of IT is changing from a traditional focus on cost-efficient enablement to a more strategic contribution. Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), while important, is being surpassed by a growing focus on automation and orchestration that is needed to fulfill enterprise demands for security, agility, and innovation. The cloud-grade enterprise network – spanning the campus, data center, and branch – must be able to respond to rapid changes in business, growing reliance on hybrid cloud architectures, and the needs of users and customers.

The time has come for enterprise risk management to change. Mobile devices have become core to our personal and professional lives, yet most enterprises remain focused on traditional PC endpoints. Although many of the same elements of risk that affect PCs also apply to mobile endpoints, simply extending current PC security controls to your mobile feet is ineffective. Enterprise risk management needs to evolve to address mobile risks, and security professionals must architect mobile specifc security. To encourage this evolution, Lookout developed the Mobile Risk Matrix. Its purpose is to help security organizations understand the spectrum of risk on mobile devices and to provide data that demonstrates the prevalence of mobile risk.
